      About Younger


      Younger is family-owned and operated by the Younger family, and all items are manufactured in Hickory, NC with locally sourced materials (within 80 miles). All pieces are hand-cut and hand-assembled. They offer bench-built sofas, meaning one person builds the frame out all the way through, and one person upholsters. The signature of the people who built the sofa or chair can be located on the label. 

      Custom Upholstery Program

      Younger offers several custom models of sofas, sectionals, and accent chairs. The options include several different leg finishes, cushion types, fabrics, and leathers. The lead time for custom-made products is currently about 22 weeks.

      Quick Ship Program

      There are 10 models offered in 24 fabrics, with a current shipping lead time of about 8 weeks.

      Smart Furniture Stocking Program

      Smart Furniture currently stocks the Michael Sofa and Jude Sofa. That means it can ship from our warehouse within 1-2 business days.

      Materials Used for the Frame

      • Kiln-dried ash or maple wood, sourced from sustainable forests. Plywood used for rounded corners. Kiln-dried means no warping and a durable and strong frame.
      • Glue used is water-based, so no off-gassing. Proposition 65 compliant.

      Materials Used for Cushioning

      • 2.5 high-density foam cushions are used, so sofas and chairs will have a soft feel with a bit of bounce. Loose back-cushion sofas will be softer than tight back cushion sofas. An example is the Jude Sofa having a loose cushion, while the Michael Sofa has a tight back cushion.
      • CertiPur Foam cushions used, which offers the lowest VOC possible. Free of harmful chemicals and heavy metals so there is minimal off-gassing.
      • Down-alternative offered as an upgrade called trillium. It mimics the softness of down cushions. It bounces back to shape rather than puddling as down often does.

      Materials Used for Springs

      • Both sinuous springs and webbing are used for support. Type of support will vary depending on the depth of the seat/model.
      • Deeper seat, sinuous spring beneath cushions.
      • Shallow seat, webbing beneath cushions.

      • Leather is not available on all frames, but it is available on many frames.

      Warranty Information

      Frame: Limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects
      Springs: 10 Year Warranty
      Cushions: 1 Year Warranty
      All Other Parts: 1 Year Warranty
