Ekornes Stressless - Overview

Known as the "Innovators of Comfort" - Stressless' designers and engineers have succeeded in creating a recline system that provides seamless support from your knees to your head regardless of how you're sitting.

Ekornes has a variety of recliner styles in its Stressless collection. All Ekornes Stressless recliners have the same skeleton and function similarly, but the padding, stitching, and specific features vary from style to style. They are endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association.

What is the most popular Stressless recliner that you sell?

The Mayfair Chair is our most popular Stressless recliner. With a striking combination of comfort, function, and balanced good looks, the Stressless Mayfair Chair is the direct result of more than 35 years of refining what Ekornes has preached all along. Slightly contemporary in its overall design, the wood frame and plush upholstery are reminders of the Stressless Mayfair Chair's luxurious quality.

How do you determine the right size recliner to order?

Below is a helpful guide to determining the right size. The most important part is the headrest. Your eyes should be looking forward as you recline slightly, rather than looking up at the ceiling or down towards your torso.

Where are recliners and sofas made?

Recliners are made in Norway, and all sofas are made in North Carolina.

What are the differences between the leather options?

Batick Leather - Most of the natural leather marks have been removed. The protective layer of lacquer allows spills to be easily removed. Easy to clean and attractively priced, Batick is a popular choice for those who want a more resilient leather (great if you have pets!).

Paloma Leather - Paloma has a natural grain pattern with visible natural marks. The light finishing treatment improves the physical properties and provides a more uniform color. Paloma has been developed to produce a very soft, rich, and friendly feel.

Cori Leather -  Cori has a substantial body and a distinct pebbled grain. Most of its natural marks are removed. Cori has a tip-shine which adds depth and character to the surface. Some colors have a two-tone/ tone-on-tone effect.

Pioneer Leather - A luxurious, full-grain aniline leather, Pioneer retains the original grain of the leather, and is treated with oils, waxes, and transparent dyes. It is made to enhance the soft touch and natural appeal of the leather, offering vibrant colors and a beautiful luster. This leather will gain patina and become more beautiful with time.

Noblesse Leather - Noblesse is the most exclusive leather quality offered by Ekornes. It is a full-grain semi-aniline, which means that it is dyed all the way through and has only a thin protective topcoat. This allows the leather to keep the natural softness and luster that characterizes first-class furniture leather. Regular maintenance is important to keep its attractive appearance.

Do you offer leather swatches?

Yes! We can send swatch requests in 3-10 of your favorite options. Swatches are for Leather only (no wood or fabric swatches).  You can request free swatches on the item page of the recliner or sofa you're interested in, or contact our sales team for assistance at sales@smartfurniture.com.

What is the warranty on a Stressless recliner?

The internal mechanism of Stressless recliners is warranted for a period of 10 years from the date of purchase. The 10 year guarantee covers the Plus system and the internal metal frame, including the metal springs and gliding system. The warranty does not cover damage to leather, fabric or wood components.
